    • Test Your Knowledge

Does cannabis cause, exacerbate, or improve cardiovascular issues?

  • Cardiovascular Issues

How does cannabis affect heart rate and the amount of oxygen that the heart requires to function properly? Does cannabis cause high blood pressure? Should consumers with existing high blood pressure use cannabis? Are cannabis users more or less likely to experience atrial fibrillation or metabolic syndrome issues (such as high blood sugar, excess belly fat, or high levels of cholesterol)?

  • Medical Research

What does the medical research state about the impact of cannabis and cardiovascular issues? Have you read that the risk of having a heart attack is 5 times greater in the hour after smoking cannabis? Do you know that this data is based on a single study and 6 patients? What risks have longitudinal studies determined exist for cannabis users?

  • Case Studies

This module includes a brief summary of two case studies developed by Eloise Theisen and the Radicle Health Clinician Network. Both patients wanted to use cannabis in combination with warfarin, a common blood thinner. Is cannabis contraindicative for warfarin patients? The case studies discuss the treatment plan and results of using cannabis in combination with warfarin.
